Pathfinder Foundation in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Institute of South Asian Studies (ISAS) - The International Conference on Asia-Pacific Trade Dynamics and Connectivity – 2023 November
The International Conference on Asia-Pacific Trade Dynamics and Connectivity, hosted by the Pathfinder Foundation in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Institute of South Asian Studies (ISAS) from India and Singapore, convened in Colombo on November 30th. Themed "Exploring Trade Dynamics: Insights on Supply Chains and Connectivity in the Asia Pacific Region," the conference aimed to disseminate research findings and foster dialogue among government officials, industry leaders, and private sector entities.
Dr. Dayaratna Silva, Executive Director of the Pathfinder Foundation, emphasized the timeliness of the conference amidst the interconnected global landscape, particularly in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. Keynote speakers Ms. Gilma Dahanayake and Dr. Amitendu Palit provided insights on multilateralism, regionalism, and the geopolitical significance of the Asia-Pacific region.
The event also featured contributions from experts such as Dr. Iqbal Singh, Mr. Sumanta Chaudhuri, and Dr. Kingsly Bernard, who highlighted the importance of trade facilitation, connectivity, and deregulation in driving economic growth and resilience.
With over 50 participants, including distinguished speakers and delegates from various sectors, the conference facilitated discussions on enhancing trade, investment, and connectivity in the Asia-Pacific region. The event concluded with a call for collaborative efforts to strengthen trade facilitation infrastructure and build resilient supply chains, laying the groundwork for a more interconnected and prosperous future in the region.
