Pathfinder Foundation holds Dialogue with Diplomats
Pathfinder Foundation successfully hosted its Fourth Dialogue with Diplomats on June 5, on the topic “Policy challenges for a new government”.
The panel featured Emeritus Prof. Premachandra Athukorala, Professor of Economics at the Australian National University, Dr. R.H.S. Samarathunga, Senior Economic Advisor to the President, Emeritus Professor Sirimal Abeyaratne, former head of the Department of Economics of the University of Colombo and former Chairman of the University Grants Commission Prof. Gamini Samaranayaka.
Among the participants were heads of mission and senior staff of the Colombo-based diplomatic missions, Senior government officials, representatives from leading think tanks, non-governmental organizations, and private sector members.
The event underscored the multifaceted policy challenges a new Sri Lankan government must address and emphasized the need for well–structured policy reforms to achieve sustained long–term growth. Moreover, the discussion highlighted the need to encourage foreign investment and develop an export-oriented economy to turn around the country’s economy.
