Seventh Diplomatic Dialogue – Sri Lanka’s Mineral Sector|27th January 2026

Pathfinder Foundation convened its Seventh Diplomatic Dialogue on “Unlocking Sri Lanka’s Mineral Sector – Opportunities for Sustainable Investment and Strategic Partnerships.

The dialogue highlighted Sri Lanka’s strategic mineral resources, including graphite, mineral sands, apatite, quartz, mica, and rare-earth elements, with emphasis on their importance for EV batteries, energy storage, and advanced industries.
Experts from academia and industry stressed the need for stronger collaboration between government, universities, and the private sector, along with regulatory reform, faster approvals, digital licensing, and investor-friendly policies.
The discussion concluded with a call for coordinated action to promote value addition, sustainable development, and strategic investment in the mineral sector.
