The Pathfinder Foundation is pleased to inform you that Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) and National Endowment of Democracy (NED) Board has approved the Pathfinder Foundation proposal for the establishment of a Legislative Advisory Service (LAS). This project aims to provide independent analysis of legislations primary or secondary, which have a long term impact on economic and business

The analysis will be an attempt to raise the level of the understanding and debate on economic issues among the Members of Parliament as well as the public at large. This should be done by preparing and disseminating a series of briefing notes on proposed commercial and economic measures, all concerned in all the three national languages (i.e. Sinhala, Tamil and English). The objectives of the LAS Project is to begin to redress the general lack of debate on legislations with economic and commercial implications.  Before such legislation is enacted. The project will be launched in November, 2006 with a dedicated website.
