The Pathfinder Foundation Felicitated

Mr.-MM-Receiving-Award2The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Sri Lanka recognized the Pathfinder Foundation as one of its top 10 partners at a ceremony to mark Chinese New Year and Sri Lanka's National Day held at the BMICH on Friday 17th January. President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Prime Minister D.M Jayaratne, Minister of Health Maithreepala Sirisena, Minister of External Affairs G.L Peiris and Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga were among those present at this ceremony. Here Chinese Ambassador Wu Jianghao presents the top 10 partners award to Mr. Milinda Moragoda, Founder of the Pathfinder Foundation.

The Pathfinder Foundation (PF), since its inception has consistently argued in favour of cost reflective pricing for every State Owned Enterprise (SOE). This is based on the premise that losses of SOEs are invariably a burden on the public, particularly the poor and vulnerable, in one way or the other.

Changing the Pillow to Cure the Headache: Tariff Adjustment without Restructuring the CEB

 This is the first in a new series of Pathfinder Foundation releases which will focus upon and highlight issues that require immediate attention. Lack of urgent action would have severe adverse consequences for an enterprise, a sector or the economy as a whole.

The Pathfinder Foundation (PF) welcomes the efforts currently underway to address the chronic losses incurred by the CEB; and congratulates the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) and other stakeholders for conducting a professional Public Hearing. PUCSL is also to be commended for its proactive stance in cutting the costs put forward by the CEB to the tune of Rs. 40 billion.
